A gradual accumulation of layers of ink creates the structure.

Mixed media hangings constitute another body of work in my studio.

They resemble ‘Vessels of Light’ but unfolded into two dimensions, created from different types of paper and organic materials collaged together.

My technique echoes the theme of the hybrid or chimera, as I combine different images.

Hung from the ceiling, ‘Vessels of Light’ pick up ambient light and seem to float and glow.

An added unexpected benefit, visible here, is that as night approaches, they start to reflect in windows, giving the illusion of lanterns in the garden outside.
